act no. 469: What does this act entail?
Act 469: “As a means to inform civics-related curricula and instruction, each student enrolled in Civics, or a course permitted to substitute for Civics, shall be administered a test based upon the civics portion of the naturalization test used by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services to survey his knowledge of the fundamentals of the history, principles, and form of the United States government.”

what does this have to do with students and teachers?
- Civics teachers or teachers of a course which substitutes for Civics are required to teach a unit of study that includes civics-related subject matter that a naturalized citizen is required to pass to demonstrate knowledge.
- Teachers must also administer a test based upon the civics portion of the naturalization test.
- Students will be required to take and pass the civics portion of the naturalization test to assess their knowledge of civic concepts.
